Varsity Chargers Victorious over Newton

Varsity Charger baseball team scores 19 runs on 19 hits in rout of Newton.  Austin Peterson hits a home run.  Lucas Heaverlo, Alex Wright each have three hits in 19-8 win over the Cardinals.
The Chargers scored five runs in two innings and four in two others to move to 3-0 overall.  Left fielder Ben Kinser went 4-5 at the plate with two triples, a double, a single, two runs scored and three RBIs.  Right fielder Austin Ritenour also went 4-5 with three doubles and four RBIs.  Lucas Heaverlo went 3-3 at the plate with three singles, four runs scored and two walks.  Alex Wright went 3-4 with a double, two singles, three runs scored, two RBIs and a walk.  Brett Braida went 2-4 with two doubles, two runs scored, three RBIs and a walk.  Austin Peterson went 1-3 with a home run, three runs scored, two RBIs and a walk.  Jordan Baughman went 1-2 with a double, a run scored, four RBIs and a walk.  Token Hall went 1-5 with a double, two runs scored and a walk.  TJ Hockenson went 0-5 with a run scored and an RBI.  Nate Hoeger scored a run.
Baughman got the win on the mound.  In five innings he gave up seven runs, all earned, on nine hits while striking out three and walking four.  Heaverlo pitched one inning and gave up one earned run on one hit while striking out two and walking none.
Chariton started off sizzling with five runs in the top of the first to take a 5-0 lead.  The Cardinals scored three runs in the bottom of the second to cut the lead to 5-3.  The Chargers answered with four more runs in the top of the third to push the lead to 9-3.  The Cardinals scored once in the bottom of the third to make it a 9-4 game.
Chariton scored once in the fourth and four times in the fifth while the Cardinals scored twice in the fourth and once in the fifth to make it a 14-7 game.  Chariton's bats were still hot in the sixth as they scored five more runs to make it a 19-7 game.  The Cardinals added one more run in the bottom of the sixth but could get no closer.
