3A District Final Game for Chargerss

Varsity Chargers Pound Creston

The Chariton Varsity baseball team closed out their regular season with a bang by beating Creston, 11-3, at Creston July 10.  Creston had an early 2-0 lead but the Chargers came storming back and reeled off nine runs in the last two innings to win convincingly.  The win gave Chariton a final regular season record of 24-10.  Austin Peterson went 4-5 at the plate with a double and three singles, a run scored and four RBIs.  Alex Wright went 2-4 with two singles and an RBI.  Cameron Knust went 1-4 with a single, three runs scored, two RBIs and a walk.  

LC 13-year-old All-Stars third at State

Local Student Receives Degree from AIB

Chantelle Schreck received her degree from AIB College of Business.  She received a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting with highest honors.

Varsity Chargers defeat Albia

The Chariton Varsity boys kept up their hot play with a doubleheader sweep of archrival Albia at Albia.   The Chargers jumped out to a big early lead in the first game en route to a 15-8 victory.  They also had an eight-run fifth inning.
Center fielder Cameron Knust went 4-4 at the plate with a double, triple, two singles, four runs scored, two RBIs and a stolen base.  Catcher Alex Wright went 1-4 with a single and an RBI.
Chariton scored 15 runs on 16 hits, which included a home run by second baseman, Austin PetersonPeterson went 2-3 with a single, a home run, three runs scored, six RBIs and a walk.

Varsity Chargers Pound Pleasantville

Another successful night at the plate propelled the Chariton Varsity boys to a 12-7 win over Pleasantville at Chariton on June 27.  The Chargers earned their 12 runs on 13 hits including four doubles and two triples.  With the win Chariton moved to 21-8-1 overall.
Ben Kinser and Austin Peterson each handled pitching duties and Kinser got the win.  Peterson gave up one unearned run on four hits while striking out one and walking six.  Peterson went 2-4 with a triple, single, three runs scored and two RBI's.  Alex Wright went 1-4 with a triple and an RBI.
