Charger Boys Soccer

Chariton 0 vs Albia 10
Chariton struggled to get any kind of offense going and pulled out  their first team early in the game.  The team lost to Albia 10-0 on April 22nd.  Albia came out strong offensively and was able to keep scoring throughout the game.  The Chargers hadn't played for two weeks and it showed.  They didn't deserve to be on the same field as Albia.

Carlisle 1 Chariton 0
Chariton lost to Carlisle, 1-0, at Cownie Park in Des Moines April 26.  Cownie Park is the same complex that hosts the Boys State Soccer Tournament.  This game was a tight battle between two evenly matched teams.  Chariton's goalie was knocked out of the game by one of the Carlisle players just 20 minutes into the game.  The Wildcats scored against the wind in the 20th minute for the game's only goal.  "We had several scoring opportunities but were unable to put any into the net.  Jon Hendricks went in to replace Timofey Timofeyev at goalie and did an excellent job in the net.  We played extremely hard but were unable to get the win.  Since the game was played at Cownie Park, it was a unique opportunity for the boys," Coach Pierschbacher said.

Centerville 5  Chariton 0
The Chargers played well in a 5-0 loss to Centerville at Chariton April 30th.  The Chargers gave up two goals in the first half and really two in the second.  The Big Reds scored on a corner kick with two seconds left to get the 5-0 win.

Creston 2 Chariton 0
A strong second half defensively wasn't quite enough for the Charger boys in a 2-0 home loss to Creston May 9.  The Panthers scored two goals in the first half then the Chargers shut them out in the second half.

Centerville 7  Chariton 0
A sluggish six-minute period in the first half hurt the Chariton boys soccer team in a 7-0 loss at Centerville May 10th.  The Chargers struggled in the first half, giving up four goals.  The Big Reds added two more goals to take a 6-0 lead into halftime.  The coaching staff challenged the team to finish the game.  They did just that as Centerville only scored one goal in the second half.
