Lady Charger Soccer Team Blitzes Knoxville

The Chariton girls soccer team improved to 7-5 on the year with a 4-0 win over Knoxville at Chariton May 13th.  The game remained scoreless until near the end of the first half, when defender Quincy Swarthout won the ball and carried it up field, passing to midfielder, Cierra Covington, who sent it into the middle where a waiting forward, Luiza Tsygipalo, tapped the ball into the net for a score.  The second half for the Lady Chargers creating many more opportunities and their work paid off by producing three goals.  Kourtney Nichols got the insurance goal after Tsygipalo sent a ball wide to Faith Stufflebeem, who crossed into Nichols who drove it home for the score.  Nichols then returned the favor to Stufflebeem, giving a nice pass, which Stufflebeem was able to handle and send, past the Knoxville keeper, giving Chariton a 3-0 lead.  The final goal came when freshman, Alexis Curran, alertly intercepted a Knoxville pass, controlled the ball and shot it into the goal
