Girls Soccer Team Loses to Norwalk

The Chariton Girls soccer team's season came to an end with a 3-0 loss to Norwalk in their Class 2A Region 3 first round game at Norwalk  May 23.  The Lady Chargers ended their season with a 9-6 record.  The Lady Chargers will lose 8 players after graduation this year, all of whom are valuable players.
Norwalk wasted little time establishing a lead, when just six minutes into the game a midfielder was left unmarked and pounded the ball into the net from 25  yards out.  Norwalk added another goal just before halftime, when a shot deflected off the outstretched foot of a Chariton defender, changing its direction and making it impossible for the goalkeeper to get to the ball.  Norwalk led 2-0 at halftime.
The second half was much more evenly played, as the Lady Chargers had several scoring opportunities, but couldn't put the final touch on the ball to get it in the goal.  Norwalk added an insurance goal late in the game to give them a 3-0 victory.
