Chariton JV Volleyball Loses to Knoxville

Chariton JV Volleyball Team Loses tight Match to Knoxville on the Road

In a non-conference match at Knoxville, the JV girls battled hard but lost a couple of close games, 21-25 and 22-25.  Lindsay Black and MacKenzie Welch each went 4-4 with an ace.  Alexis Curran went 4-5 and Sarah Fuhs went  4-6.  Curran went 11-13 with five kills.  Black had two digs. Curran led the team with four blocks.

9th Chargers have 28-0 win in Season Opener

The freshmen football team's 28-0 season opening win over Creston came like a locomotive, amassing over 300 yards of offense and four touchdowns.  Defensively, Chariton only allowed four first downs for the game.  Daric Laing led the team with 145 yards on 22 carries and a touchdown.  Andrew Chapman had 54 yards on 15 carries and a touchdown.  Bradley Krutsinger had five catches for 41 yards and two touchdowns.  Krutsinger had four tackles and two assists.  Chance Wertz had three tackles and three assists.  Chapman had one tackle and two assists.

JV Chariton Chargers Win over Creston

A 22-6 win over Creston is the way the JV Chariton Chargers started their season.  The Chargers rushed for 257 yards in this season opener.  Chariton had 14 first downs and 321 yards of total offense.  The Chargers rushed for 257 yards on 48 carries and had 64 yards passing.  They only had one turnover.  Chasen Blue led the team with 108 yards on 17 carries.  Blue had three solos and one assist.  Bradley Krutsinger had one solo, four assists and one interception.

Michael Mason Graduated

Southwestern Community College of Creston, IA, has announced the graduating class of 2011-2012 and that Michael Mason, Russell received diplomas in Collision Repair, Refinish and Automotive Repair Technology.  Commencement exercises were held May 11, 2012 and June 29, 2012.

Lindsey White on Dean's List

Lindsey White, of Russell, Iowa, a current 6th Trimester student in the Doctor of Chiropractic Program at Palmer College of Chiropractic, Davenport, Iowa has been named to the Dean's List of the 5th Trimester.  To be eligible to the Dean's List a student must achieve a minimum grade point average (GPA) of 3.50 in all studies for the respective term.  The highest possible GPA is a 4.00.
Palmer was established as the first chiropractic college by Daniel David Palmer in 1897.  Palmer College of Chiropractic received accreditation from the Council on Chiropractic Education in 1979 and from the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools in 1984.

Wayne County Fair Junior Awards

Outstanding Junior Awards Photo:  Lance Wallace, Remington Spaur and Lincoln Spaur received Outstanding Junior Awards with their 4-H projects during the 2012 Wayne County Fair.  Remington also received a special plaque for Outstanding Visual Arts with his train display of South Dakota, which was also selected to be on display during Corydon's Old Settlers celebration.

Alex Wright attended the 2012 Junior Showcase held at Southeast Polk High School on July 29.  This event, sponsored by the Iowa High School Baseball Coaches Association, is organized each year to allow the top Juniors in the state to showcase their baseball abilities to both College Coaches and Professional Scouts.
