Varsity Chargers Win over Des Moines Christian

Jordan Baughman homers in varsity Chargers' win over Des Moines Christian.  On Saturday, June 8th the Chargers scored four runs on four hits and received a strong pitching performance from T.J. Hockenson on the mound to get the win, 4-3.
Senior shortstop Jordan Baughman hit a home run and went 2-3 with a homer, a single, one run scored and two RBIs.  With the win, Chariton moved to 8-1 overall.  Hockenson got the win going six innings and giving up three runs, all earned, on three hits while striking out six and walking one.  Austin Peterson also pitched one inning and gave up no runs and one hit while striking out one and walking none.  Peterson played right field the rest of the game.
The Chargers scored once in the first and once in the third to take a 2-0 lead.  The Lions scored two runs in the fifth to tie the game at two apiece.  Chariton scored twice in the sixth while the Lions scored once to give the Chargers 4-3 lead heading into the final inning.
Hockenson went 1-3 with a single, a run scored and two stolen bases.  Left fielder Ben Kinser went 1-3 with a double and an RBI.  Center fielder Token Hall went 0-2 with a run scored, a stolen base and a walk.  Second baseman Lucas Heaverlo went 0-1 with a run scored and two walks.  Peterson went 0-2 with an RBI.  Catcher Alex Wright went 0-2 with a stolen base and a walk.  Third baseman Brett Braida went 0-3.  First baseman Charlie Palmer went 0-3 with a stolen base.
