Bengston Throws Shutout in 3-0 Victory

The weekend of June 7th and 8th, Chariton sophomore softball pitcher Ellie Bengston had an up day when she pitched a 3-0 shutout, taking the win.  Bengston scattered five hits with seven strikeouts and no walks in the game.  Just as impressive, was the fact that Bengston struck out seven Davis County batters and South Central Conference strikeout leader, Rylee Eakins only had just two.  Eakins was the first SCC pitcher to reach 100 K's this season.  The shutout was the first of the season for Bengston.
The Chargers did a great job putting the ball in play against Eakins, picking up six hits with only two batters striking out.  Chariton  scored a run in the top of the first when Kylie Bengston reached base on an error, advanced to second, then scored when Kourtney Nichols hit into an error.
The Chargers improve to 3-7 and 1-2 in the SCC.
