JV Girls Beat EBF, 8-5

Varsity Girls Softball against EBF on Go Pink Night

Go Pink Night at Chariton was a good night for the JV Girls while topping the Eddyville-Blakesbur-Freemont Rockets, 8-5.  The game was shortened because of a threatened severe storm on Thursday night June 13th.  This game was called so the varsity game could be played in its entirety.
Despite having only two innings, there was an abundance of scoring..  After the Rockets scored once in the top of the first, the JV Charger girls erupted with eight runs in the bottom of the first to take an 8-1 lead.  Four more runs were scored by the Rockets in the top of the second, but they could get no closer.  The entire lineup got to bat and were they ever going strong.
Alexis Curran pitched both innings with Jessica Wiederholt as her catcher and got the win.  In two innings, Curran gave up five runs; all earned, on six hits while striking out none and walking two.  Sarah Fuhs went 1-1 with a single and two runs scored.  Nikki Vande Lune went 1-1 with a single, a run scored and two RBIs.  Meredith Davis went 1-1 with a single and a run scored.  Kelsey Carver and Wiederholt each scored a run and had an RBI.  Maria Blong and Britany White each had an RBI.  Curran scored a run.
