Another strong hitting performance lifted the Chariton varsity boys to a 7-5 win at Pella May 30th. The Chargers pounded out 11 hits and Austin Peterson, Jordan Baughman and T.J. Hockenson each had multi-hit games for the Chargers, who improved to 4-0 with the win.
Brett Braida and Baughman handled pitching duties and Braida got the win. In five and 2/3 innings he gave up five runs, all earned, on nine hits while striking out four and walking none. The Chargers started out well scoring twice in the first and two runs in the second to take a 4-0 lead. The Little Dutch scored twice in the bottom of the fourth to cut the lead to 4-2. The Chargers scored three more in the top of the fifth to push the lead to 7-2. Pella rallied to score three runs in the bottom of the sixth to cut the lead to 7-5, but that was as close as they got.
