Miranda Davis, Micaela Folkerts hit home runs at North Polk Tourney
The Chariton varsity girls split a couple of games at the North Polk Tournament May 30th and June 1st. The Lady Chargers lost their first game to Sergeant Bluff-Luton, 10-0, in five innings and bounced back to beat OA-BCIG (Odebolt Arthur-Battle Creek Ida Grove) 6-0 on Saturday.
In their first game on Friday, Chariton face the #6 team in Class 3A at the time, Sergeant Bluff Luton. The Lady Chargers managed just two hits in this game and committed six errors in the loss.
Chariton hit the ball much better in the second game with eight hits and committed just one error in the 6-0 win. The Lady Chargers jumped out to a 5-0 lead early and Ellie Bengtson tossed a three-hitter on the mound. Miranda Davis and Micaela Folkerts each "went yard" as Folkerts belted a two-run home run and Davis hit a three-run homer.
