A shutout kept the Chariton Varsity baseball team on a winning streak. At home, the team beat Oskaloosa 8-0. Three-hit games were achieved by Token Hall, center fielder; Austin Peterson, right fielder and shortstop Jordan Baughman. Alex Wright tossed a two hitter on the mound and got the win. In six innings he gave up no runs and two hits while striking out eight and walking two. One inning was pitched by Baughman who gave up no runs and one hit while striking out two and walking none.
The Chargers scored twice in the first and three more times in the third to take a 5-0 lead. They scored three more times in the bottom of the sixth to round out the scoring. Chariton pounded out eight runs on 11 hits including three doubles and two triples. Hall went 3-4 with a triple and two singles along with two runs scored and an RBI. Peterson went 3-4 with two doubles, a single, three runs scored and an RBI. Baughman went 3-4 with a triple and two singles, two runs scored and four RBIs. Wright went 1-3 with a double, an RBI, a stolen base and a walk. Third baseman Brett Braida went 1-4 with a single, an RBI and a stolen base. Left fielder Ben Kinser went 0-1 with a walk. First baseman T.J. Hockenson went 0-3 with a walk. Second baseman Lucas Heaverlo went 0-4 with a run scored. Catcher Austin Ritenour went 0-3. Brett Hardin also played as a courtesy runner.
