Varsity girls struggle in 5-2 loss at Albia
The Chariton varsity girls softball team had trouble at the plate and on the mound in a 5-2 loss at Albia June 6th. The girls managed to get two hits on the night, both singles, and they were unable to shut down the lady Dees in the first and sixth innings when they scored their five runs. With the loss, Cariton moved to 0-2 in the conference and 2-4 overall.
Chariton's Ellie Bengtson took the loss on the mound. In six innings she gave up five runs, four earned, on five hits while striking out one and walking three. She also hit one batter. Chariton committed two errors defensively. Right fielder Emily Grismore went 1-3 with a single and a stolen base. Chariton had 18 put outs as a team and six assists.
