The Chariton freshmen girls softball team lost a close game, 6-5, to Oskaloosa recently. The game was played hard for the first three innings and then girls got tired and hot .Sophia DeMaria pitched the whole game and took the loss on the mound. In four and 2/3 innings she gave up six runs, three earned, on six hits while striking out four and walking five. Chariton had six hits in the game. Ashley Storm went 1-2 with a double, a run scored and an RBI. Kendall Hardie went 1-2 with a single, a run scored and a walk. DeMaria went 1-2 with a single and a run scored. Saydee Terrell went 1-3 with a single. Jessica Wiederholt went 1-3 with a single, a run scored and an RBI. Ryley Heffron and Carlie Schaeffer each went 0-2. Mackenzie Curran went 0-3.
