The Chariton JV girls gave a valiant effort but came up a little short in an 8-5 loss to Clarke at Osceola Monday, June 3rd. The JV girls led 5-2 going into the bottom of the fifth when some big hits by Clarke and errors by Chariton turned the game around.
The Indians scored six runs in the bottom of the fifth to take an 8-5 lead. Clarke held Chariton scoreless in the top of the sixth to get the win.
Chariton committed six errors defensively and for some girls, it was their first full game played this season. Alexis Curran pitched the whole game with Jessica Wiederholt as her catcher. Curran gave up eight runs, three earned, on nine hits while striking out one and walking two.
