Different opponent, same result. The Chariton varsity baseball team destroyed another opponent with a 19-0 shellacking of Pleasantville at Pleasantville in four innings on June 26th. The Chargers led 9-0 heading into the fourth inning and scored 10 runs in the top of the fourth to seal the deal. With the win, Chariton moved to 22-2 on the season.
Austin Peterson and Ben Kinser handled pitching duties for Chariton. Peterson got the win, going three innings and giving up no runs and one hit while striking out four and walking three. Kinser went one inning and gave up no runs and no hits while striking out three and walking none.
Chariton pounded out 19 runs on 15 hits and Kinser and designated hitter, Austin Ritenour, each had three hit games for Chariton. Kinser went 3-4 with three singles, a run scored and three RBIs. Ritenour went 3-4 with three singles, two runs scored and two RBIs. Third baseman Brett Braida went 2-3 with a double, a single, three runs scored, two RBIs and a walk. Shortstop Jordan Baughman went 2-2 with two singles, two runs scored, three RBIs and a walk. Second baseman Lucas Heaverlo went 2-4 with two singles, two runs scored and an RBI. Center fielder Token Hall went 1-2 with a single, three runs scored, an RBI, a stolen base and two walks. Peterson went 1-1 with a double, two runs scored, two RBIs, a stolen base and a walk. Catcher Alex Wright went 1-3 with a single, a run scored, two RBIs and a walk. First baseman TJ Hockenson went 0-3 with two runs scored and two RBIs. Nate Hoeger went 0-1. Brett Hardin scored a run and Adam Kaska had a walk. Jon Lazear also played.
