Girls Soccer Team Moves to 5-1 with Win Over Centerville

Chariton's girls soccer team traveled to Centerville May 16th and upped their record to 5-1 with a 4-1 victory over the Lady Reds.  Chariton got on the scoreboard first when midfielder Starr Covington wisely took a shot from about 30 yards out, which went over the keeper's head and into the net in the 18th minute.
Chariton took a 2-0 lead into halftime after Kourtney Nichols and Taylor Tuley placed a nice give-n-go along the right side.  Tuley then dropped a pass back to Nichols and the senior forward cleanly drove the ball into the net.
The Lady Chargers wasted no time extending the lead as just a minute into the second half, midfielder Emily Grismore won the ball and sent a cross in front of the goal where a charging Vicki Slobodyanik met the ball and re-directed it into the net, giving Chariton a 3-0 lead.
Nichols got her second goal of the night when she received the ball on the right side and dribbled into the middle of the field, driving a low shot into the left corner.  Grismore got her second assist of the night on that goal.  Centerville scored their lone goal due to a communication problem on defense but could get no closer.
