7th Grade Boys Has Number of High Finishes at SCC Meet

Blong Wins Long Jump, 7th Shuttle Hurdle Relay Team First at SCC Meet

Charger 4 x 100 and Distnace Medley Teams Place Second


  The Chariton seventh grade boys had a number of high finishes at the South Central Conference middle school meet in Chariton May 9th.  Nathan Blong won the long jump and finished second in the 100-meter dash.  The Chariton shuttle hurdle relay team placed first and the 4 x 100 relay and distance medley relay teams both placed second.  As a team Chariton placed fifth overall with 75 points.  Albia won the meet with 129 points.
  Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont was second with 121.  Clarke was third with 101 and Davis County was fourth with 76.  Centerville was sixth with 47.
  Blong won the long jump with a jump of 16'2".  Adrian Hill tied for 12th with a jump of 13' even.  Luke Lahart was 17th with a jump of 12' even.  Blong placed second in the 100-meter dash in 13.44.  Jamison Owens placed 10th in 17.31.
  In the shuttle hurdle relay, the team of Hill, Brodey Johnson, Brady Hamilton and Jackson Fisher placed first overall in 1:18.79.  In the 4 x 100 relay the team of Braydon Simms, Johnson, Hamilton and Blong placed second in 55.94.  The 4 x 100 B team of Braden Miller, Chance Anderson, Tanner Nance and Micah Thatcher placed sixth in 1:06.56.
  In the distance medley relay, the team of Grant Goering, Hunter Cobb, Ben Lahart and Peyton Lane placed second in 4:50.52.  In the 4 x 200 relay, the team of Simms, Cobb, Lane and Hamilton placed third in 2:01.94.  The 4 x 100 B team of Sawyer Cline, Anderson, Thatcher and Miller placed sixth in 2:18.84.  In the sprint medley relay, the team of Simms, Hill, Cobb and Goering placed third in 2:10.59.
  Miller placed third overall in the shot put with a throw of 29'7.5".  Goering was eighth with a thow of 24'8".  Thatcher was 12th with a throw of 21'11".  In the 4 x 400 relay, the team of Hill, Cline, Ben Lahart and Luke Lahart placed fourth in 5:03.63.
  In the 200 meter dash, Blong placed fifth in 28.16.  Nance was 13th in 35.99.  In the 400-meter dash, Luke Lahart was seventh in 1:20.65.  In the 800-meter run, Lane finished in 2:252.88.  In the 100-meter hurdles, Fisher placed sixth in 19.35.  Ben Lahart placed fifth in the 1,600-meter run in 6:17.06.  Goering finished seventh in 6:23.05.
  Johnson placed fifth in the 200-meter hurdles in 32.61.  Fisher placed sixth in 33.13.  In the discus, Cline finished eighth with a throw of 68' even.  Anderson was ninth with a throw of 65'2".  Fisher placed sixth in the high jump with a jump of 4'4".
"I am really proud of the boys.  They have worked very hard this season to keep improving their times and technique," Chariton 7th boys Head Coach Dina Lewin said.
