Bengtson Wins Second Straight 800-meter Title at SCC Meet

  Christian Bengtson won his second straight 800-meter title at the South Central Conference track meet at Davis county on May 8th.  Bengtson won the 800 with a season best time of 2:01.775.  As a team Chariton placed sixth out of six teams with 47 points.
  The 4 x 800 relay team of Cody Evans, Aaron Cain, Zach McElroy and Bengtson ran their best time of the year and finished third overall in 8:42.13.  Ethan Schreck recorded his best time of t he year in the 110-meter hurdles and finished fourth overall in 17.355.  Jared Wright finished seventh in the shot put with a season best throw of 40'3".
  In the distance medley relay, the team of Dillon Sanders, McElroy, Cain and Cody Evans placed third in 3:56.65.  In the 4 x 100 relay, the team of Stephen McCurdy, McElroy, Austin Ritenour and Dustin Hale placed third in 47.95.  In the shuttle hurdle relay the team of Schreck, Hale, McCurdy and Austin Cline placed fourth in 1:09.11.  In the 4 x 200 relay, the team of McCurdy, McElroy, Ritenour and Brett Braida placed fourth in 1:38.77.
  In the 4 x 400 relay, the team of Cody Moore, Cain, Sanders and Braida placed fifth in 3:52.49.  In the 400-meter dash, Sanders placed fifth in 54.374.  In the 200-meter dash, Braida placed sixth in 24.39.
  Places weren't available for the following results.  In the long jump, Dillon Sanders had a jump of 16'6" and Dustin Hale had a jump of 15'6".  In the shot put, Alec Reynolds had a throw of 37'3".  In the discus, Hunter Miller had a throw of 116'8".  Chase Altenhofen had a throw of 108'5".
  In the 3,200 Joe Gookin finished in 12:42.  In the 100-meter dash, Nate Hoeger finished in 12.6 seconds.  Cody Stevenson finished in 13.5 seconds.  In the 1,600-meter run, Jonah Thatcher finished in 5:45.  In the 400-meter hurdles, Austin Cline finished in 1:10.  In the 800-meter run, Bryce Exline finished in 2:15.  Chariton didn't have a participant in the high jump.
  Albia won the SCC boys team standings with 187 points.  Davis County was second with 128.  Centerville was third with 84 and Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont was fourth with 53.  Clarke was fifth with 49.
