Charger Relays on April 15th

Bengtson Places Third in 800; 4x800, Shuttle Hurdle Relay Teams Each Place 
Fourth at Charger Relays

  On a cold, brisk night the Charger boys track team hosted the Charger Relays at Bob Cain Track on April 15th.  Among the highlights for Chariton were Christian Bengtson running a personal best time in the 800 meters and the 4x800 relay team of Cody Evans, Aaron Cain, Evan Havick and Bengtson running their best time of the year.  As a team, Chariton placed eighth overall out of eight teams in the big school or Class AA standings with 42 points.
  In the 800 meters, Bengtson placed third overall with a time of 2:03.19.  The 4x800 team of Evans, Cain, Havick and Bengtson placed fourth overall with a time of 8:46.34.  In the shuttle hurdle relay, the team of Ethan Schreck, Dustin Hale, Stephen McCurdy and Austin Cline placed fourth overall in 1:10.43.
  In the 3,200 meter run, Luke Evans placed fifth overall in 11:20.28.  Joe Gookin finished 10th in 12:32.93.  In the long jump, Dillon Sanders placed sixth overall with a jump of 17'5.5".  Cody Stevenson finished 12th with a jump of 13'11.5".  In the shot put, Alec Reynolds placed seventh overall with a throw of 36'2.5".  Jared Wright placed eighth with a throw of 35'6.5".
  In the discus, Hunter Miller finished 10th with a throw of 89'6".  Chase Altenhofen finished 11th with a throw of 89'3".  Dalton Shimerda finished 17th with a throw of 70'1".
  In the 4x200 relay, the team of McCurdy, Zach McElroy, Austin Ritenour and Brett Braida placed fifth in 1:40.96.  In the 4x100 relay, the team of McCurdy, McElroy, Ritenour and Sanders placed sixth in 48.20.  In the 4x400 relay team of Braida, Cain, Cody Evans and Nate Hoeger placed sixth in 3:56.13.  
  In the 100 meter dash, Sanders finished 12th in 12.41.  Jacob Larrington finished 15th in 14.05.  In the 200 meter dash, Braida placed eighth in 24.85.  Bryce Exline finished 13th in 26.14.
  In the 400 meter dash, Chase Altenhofen finished 12th in 58.60.  Hoeger finished 13th in 59.04.  In the 110 meter hurdles, Schreck placed sixth in 18.80.
  In the 1,600 meter run, Luke Evans finished 10th in 5:19.87.  Jonah Thatcher finished 14th in 5:42.79.  Nick Cline finished ninth in 1:11.78.  Chariton's distance medley relay team was disqualified.
  Pella won the Class AA standings with 144 points.  Carlisle was second with 115 and Albia was third with 104.
  Mt Ayr was fourth with 96.  Centerville was fifth with 71.  Creston was sixth with 62.  Clarke was seventh with 61.
