Charger Boys Soccer Team Opens Season With 4-3 Loss to Creston

The Chargers opened the 2014 Soccer season at Creston on a windy cool night and came away with a 4-3 loss on April 8th.
The Chargers opened the scoring with Asa St. Lawrence hitting a 20 yard shot off a great pass from Spencer Sherrick in the game's first 10 minutes.  The Panthers didn't wait long to answer as they tied the game with a nice shot on the left side.
The Chargers answered right back with a double assist play.  This play started with Jon Hendricks giving St. Lawrence a nice ball, which he quickly sent across the box where Eduard Rodygin headed it into the goal.  This gave Chariton a 2-1 lead that they were unable to hold.
Creston stormed back to score back-to-back goals.  This gave them a 3-2 lead and they did not look back.  The Panthers took the wind in the second half and scored in the first two minutes, stretching the lead to 4-2.
Chariton struggled to get very many good looks in this half, but with about 15 minutes left in the game St. Lawrence hit a great ball off a free kick just outside the box past the Creston goalie to make the score 4-3.  Chariton was unable to get any closer.

JV Boys Soccer Team Falls to Creston in Opener
The Chariton JV boys soccer team lost to Creston, 3-0 in their season opener at Creston April 8.  Chariton Head Coach Jay Pierschbacher gave his take on the game and the JV team in this season.
"This game was a real learning experience for our young and inexperienced JV team.  We have a total of 16 players on our JV soccer team this year and four of these 16 play varsity.  We are still trying to get things down for what we're trying to do throughout the game.  The JV players will get it.  It's nice to have enough players this year so that our varsity players don't have to play JV halves as well as their own game," Coach Pierschbacher said.
