The Chariton eighth grade girls did a fabulous job winning a host of events at the SCC meet at Chariton May 6th. Luci Swarthout won the 100-meter dash, 200-meter dash, 200-meter hurdles and she finished second in the high jump.
The Chariton shuttle hurdle relay team of Ivy Swarthout, Tressa Shore, Pahri Boyce and Autumn Gwinn also placed first overall in 1:20.61. As a team, Chariton placed third overall with 95 points.
Swarthout won the 100 in a time of 13.77. She won the 200 in a time of 29.12. Shore placed fifth in the 200 in 30.12. Swarthout won the 200-meter hurdles in 30.94. Trinity Kemper placed eighth in 40.84. Swarthout placed second in the high jump with a jump of 4'6". Johnson placed second in the 1,500-meter run in 6:15. Taheton Decker placed sixth in 6:41.
The Chariton spring medley relay team of Abbie Peterson, Natalie Baird, Aubrie Richards and Ashley Pfrimmer placed second in 2:13.33. The distance medley relay team of Shore, Richards, Megan Schultz and Taytum Bacus placed second in 5:18.13. The 4 x 800 relay team of Johnson, Bacus, Ali Goldensoph and Schultz placed third in 12:10.61.
The 4 x 100 relay team of Baird, Peterson, Boyce and Allie Smith placed fourth in 1:03.05. The 4 x 100 relay team of Kemper, Sara Sainey, Taheton Decker and Gwinn placed sixth in 1:06.90. In the 4 x 400 relay the team of Pfrimmer, Goldensoph, Richards and Ivy Swarthout placed fifth in 5:07.50. In the 4 x 200 relay, the team of Peterson, Richards, Smith and Ivy Swarthout placed seventh in 2:11.28.
In the 800 meter run, Bacus placed fourth in 3:01.74. Goldensoph was 11th in 3:10.90 and Johnson was 12th in 3:14.68. Decker was 16th in 3:18.22. In the 100-meter hurdles, Boyce placed fifth in 19.21. Gwinn finished eighth in 21.77. Schultz placed fifth in the 400-meter dash in 1:12.41. Kemper was eighth in 1:18.97. Baird was ninth in the 100-meter dash in 15.19.
In the discus, Gwinn finished 10th with a throw of 56'9". Kemper was 13th with a throw of 48'2". Smith was 15th with a throw of 44'5". In the high jump, Goldensoph finished eight with a jump of 4'2".
In the long jump, Boyce finished 12th with a jump of 11'3". Johnson was 13th with a jump of 11'½". in the shot put, Sara Sainey placed 11th with a throw of 19'6.5". Decker was 12th with a throw of 18'11.5".
"What an excellent meet. A great group of kids, excellent volunteers to help out and a super night to run makes for an excellent meet. I feel the girls had a performance they can be proud of. All that I ask for as a coach is to give your best in the classroom, the community and when you are performing and that's what these young ladies did all season. I'm so proud of them!" Chariton Head Coach Tom Anderson said.
