Fuhs Qualifies for State with Second Place Finish in Discus at Districts

  The Chariton High School Girls Track team had one girl qualify for state at the 3A District meet at Dallas Center Grimes high School on May 15th.  Senior Emma Fuhs qualified in the discus by finishing second overall with a throw of 98'8".  The Chariton girls placed sixth overall out of eight teams with 55 points.
"I'm so proud of the work Emma had put in the last four years and that it was able to pay off at her last district track meet," Chariton Girls Track Coach Trish Rodgers said.
  Freshman Carlie Schaeffer placed third overall in the 400-meter hurdles in 1:13.27.  Emily Seuferer placed third overall in the shot put with a throw of 33'7¼".  Saydee Terrell placed fourth with a throw of 33'4".  In the discus, Carley Arnold finished 10th with a throw of 61'.
  Chariton's shuttle hurdle relay team of Maria Blong (18.56), Terrell (18.09), Tori Bauer (20.23) and Schaeffer (17.14) placed fourth in 1:14.  The 4 x 100 relay team of Jessica Wiederholt (14.06), Laurin Zern (14.56), Bauer (14.61) and Danielle Donahue (13.83) placed fifth in 58.12.
  In the 3,000-meter relay, Allison Summerfield placed fifth in 13:03.39.  The 4 x 800 relay team of Seuferer (3:26.93), Ryley Heffron (3:22.20), Mackenzie Curran (3:10.65) and Micaela Folkerts (3:31.14) placed sixth in 13.32.07.
  The sprint medley relay team of Wiederholt (14.4), Terrell (14.73), Sophia DeMaria (30.26) and Heffron (1:20.20) placed sixth in 2:20.20.  The 4 x 200 relay team of Wiederholt, Terrell, Zern and DeMaria finished seventh in 2:04.33.  The 4 x 400 relay team of Seuferer (1:12.68), Folkerts (1:21.6), Arnold (1:20.71) and Heffron (1:28.91) finished seventh in 5:24.33.
  The distance medley relay team of Zern (33.24), Sarah Fuhs (35.41), Heffron (1:18.18) and Curran (3:06.26) finished seventh in 5:32.82.  In the long jump Wiederholt finished seventh with a jump of 13'10".  Schaeffer finished eighth with a jump of 13'6.5".
  In the 100-meter hurdles, Schaeffer finished seventh in 17.47.  Blong finished 10th in 19.06.  In the 100-meter dash, Donahue finished ninth in 14.64.  In the 200-meter dash, Mackinzie Thomas-Clark finished 10th in 31.68.  Donahue finished 13th in 32.76.  In the 400-meter dash, Folkerts finished 11th in 1:18.46.  Kami Nichols finished 13th in 1:20.04.  In the 1,500-meter run, Summerfield finished ninth in 6:16.33.
   Dallas Center Grimes won the girls team standings with 173 points.  ADM Adel was second with 166.  Carlisle was third with 114.  Bondurant-Farrar was fourth with 71 and Knoxville was fifth with 61.  Saydel was seventh with 48.  Perry was eighth with 34.
