The Chariton girls tennis team did outstanding at the South Central Conference Tournament in Knoxville on May 13th. Chariton's doubles team of Sheena Savage and Aspen Koehn placed third overall and earned all-conference honors.
Savage and Koehn, both juniors, were the fourth-seeded team and received an opening round bye,. In round two they beat Centerville's team of Amoury Glosser and Elizabeth Hargrave, 10-5. In round four they lost to Clarke's team of Tracy Morgan and Cassidy Bier, 10-4. In the next round they bounced back to beat Clarke's team of Macy Snell and Sydnee Redman, 10-8.
Chariton's second doubles team of sophomore Haley Reece and senior Coutney Shounkwiler lost to Centerville's team of Kierstan /Brahman, 10-5.
Chariton had two players competing in single's play. Junior, Justin Hamilton lost to junior, Allyson Haselhausen of Albia, 10-3. Sophomore Alexis Mullins lost to junior, Sydney Lankel of Centerville, 10-4.
"This was a great experience to see all of our conference in one place. It was a great learning environment for the players as well as me the coach," Chariton Head Coach Chelsy Arnold said.
