The Chariton Lady Charger tennis team battled hard before falling to a very good Creston team, 9-0, at Creston May 6th. Chariton won five games in singles play and three in doubles play in the match.
"Creston was a really tough team, they beat Clarke last week. Both teams exhibited great sportsmanship throughout the night," Chariton Head Coach Chelsy Arnold said.
In the #1 varsity singles match, Sheena Savage lost to Audrey Fyock, 8-1. In the #2 match, Aspen Koehn fell to Jenna Taylor, 8-1. At #3 Courtney Shounkwiler lost to Alli Thomsen, 8-1. At #4 Justine Hamilton fell to Ashley Harris, 8-0. In the #5 math, Alexis Mullins lost to Angela Sorenson, 8-0. In the #6 match, Hale Reece won two games before falling to Caitlin McIlravy, 8-2.
In doubles action, the #1 team of Savage/Koehn fell to the team of Fyock/Taylor, 8-3. In the #2 match, the team of Shounkwiler/Goril Michaelsen lost to the team of Thomse/Harris, 8-0. In the #3 match, the team of Hamilton/Mullins lost to the team of Sorenson/McIlravy, 8-0

JV Team has first loss
The JV team had their first loss of the year against Creston losing 3-2. There were six JV doubles matches played.
In the #1 doubles match, the team of Rachelle Crabb/Blaire Bingham lost to the team of Sydney Dunphy/Gracie Russell, 6-0. In the #2 match, the team of Victoria Zinchenko/Nataliya Zinchenko lost a tight match to the team of Ann Waigand/Cassandra Anderson, 6-4.
In the #3 match, the team of Roni Bauer/Madison Baker lost to the team of Mattie Wheeler/Morgan Shawler, 6-2. Chariton got a win in the #4 match where the team of Kasey Lahart/Bingham beat the team of Leah Stow/Macy Evans, 6-3. In the #5 match, the team of Haley Reece/Rachelle Crabb shut out the team of Allison Norton/Erin Hanson, 6-0.
