The Chariton Charger boys tennis team lost to the Trenton Bulldogs, 9-0 at Trenton, Mo., May 2nd. The Chargers played hard, but Trenton is an experienced and talented team that doesn't make many mistakes.
In the #1 singles match, Ryan Jones fell to senior Isaiah Swann, 10-0. At #2, Zach Fisher won three games but lost to senior Wilson Utley, 10-3. At #3 Andrew VanDenTop lost to Alex Davis, 10-0. At #4 Lucas Hoeger lost to senior Chase Houghton, 10-0. At #5 Michael Lawrence fell to senior Jacob Marley, 10-0. At #6, freshman Caleb Schrodt made his varsity debut and lost to Leighton Fletchall, 10-0.
In doubles play, the #1 team of Fisher/VanDenTop lost to the team of Swann/Davis, 8-0. The #2 team of Jones/Hoeger lost to the team of Utley/Houghton, 8-0. In the #3 match, the team of Lawrence/Schrodt lost to the team of Gannon Albrecht/Tyler Lynch, 8-1.
