Charger Boys Win 4 x 800, Distance Medley Relay and 3,200 at Late Season Get Together
The Chariton boys track team had a banner day with three champions and four runner-ups at the Late Season Get Together at Chariton on May 6th. The Chargers won titles in the 4 x 800, distance medley relay and the 3,200 and 110-meter hurdles. As a team, Chariton place third out of five teams with 103 points.
Luke Evans won the 3,200 with a time of 11:11.96. Joe Gookin ran his best time of the year and finished second overall in 12:16.43. The Chargers 4 x 800 team of Cody Evans, Aaron Cain, Zach McElroy and Christian Bengtson finished first in 8:45.95. The Charger distance medley relay team of Dillon Sanders, McElroy, Cain and Bengtson finished first in 3:55.34.
Along with being on the champion 4 x 800 team, Bengtson also finished second in the 800 and 1,600. He finished second in the 800 with a season best time of 2:02.91 and second in the 1,600 in 4:55. Ethan Schreck finished second overall in the 110-meter hurdles with a season best time of 17.33.
Bryce Exline placed fifth in the 800 with a season best time of 2:16.98. Luke Evans placed eighth in the 1,600 meter run in 5:11.62. jonah Thatcher placed 11th in the 1,600 in 5:45.39.
In the 4 x 400 relay, the team of Cody Moore, Cain, Sanders and Nate Hoeger placed third in 3:57.06. In the discus, Hunter Miller placed third overall with a throw of 109' even. Chase Altenhofen placed fourth with a throw of 108'1".
In the 200-meter dash, Brett Braida placed fourth overall in 24.37. Nate Hoeger placed ninth in 26.28. In the 400, Exline placed fifth in 56.52. Cody Moore placed seventh in 58.54. In the 100-meter dash, Dillon Sanders placed sixth in 12.01. Cody Stevenson was 11th in 14.38. Jacob Larrington was 12th in 14.60.
In the long jump, Sanders placed fifth overall with a personal best jump of 18' 5¾". Dustin Hale finished 13th with a jump of 16'¼".
In the shot put, Jared Wright placed fifth overall with a personal best throw of 38'6". Alec Reynolds was seventh with a throw of 36'10". Trevin Nance was 13th witha throw of 24'9½". In the discus, Hunter Miller placed third with a throw of 109' even. Chase Altenhofen placed fourth with a throw of 108'1". Reynolds was ninth with a throw of 84'9".
In the 4 x 100 relay, the team of Stephen McCurdy, Hale, Austin Ritenour and Braida placed fifth in 48.29. In the 4 x 200 relay, the team of McCurdy, McElroy, Ritenour and Braida placed fifth in 1:39.62. In the shuttle hurdle relay, the team of Schreck, Hale, McCurdy and Cline placed fourth in 1:10.85. In the 400-meter hurdles, Cline placed fourth with a season-best time of 1:08.83.
