Carlie Schaeffer Wins 400-Meter Hurdles at Davis County

CHS Shuttle Hurdle Relay Team Second at SCC Meet

  A first place finish in the 400-meter hurdles and second place finishes in the shot put and shuttle hurdle relay were the main highlights for the Chariton Lady Charger track team at the South Central Conference meet at Davis County on May 8th.  As a team Chariton placed fifth out of six teams with 66 points.

 Carlie Schaeffer won the 400-meter hurdles in 1:11.88.  Maria Blong was third in 1:14.43.  Emily Seuferer placed second in the shot put with a throw of 33'2".  Saydee Terrell placed fifth with a throw of 31'9".  In the shuttle hurdle relay the team of Blong (17.96), Terrell (18.65), Tori Bauer (18.9) and Schaeffer (17.87) placed second in 1:13.16.

  In the discus, Emma Fuhs placed third with a throw of 98'10".  Carley Arnold didn't place with a throw of 84'3".  In the high jump, Sophia DeMaria had a jump of 4'4" and didn't place.  In the long jump, Schaeffer didn't place with a jump of 13'2¾".  Jessica Wiederholt had a jump of 13' even.

  In the 4 x 800 relay, the team of Seuferer (3:07.04), Ryley Heffron (3:23.34), Alexa Rich (3:19.87) and Micaela Folkerts (3:27.91) placed fourth in 13:18.4.  In the 100-meter dash, Danielle Donahue placed fourth in 14.28.  Mackinzie Thomas-Clark placed fifth in 14.45.  In the 3,000 meter run, Allison Summerfield placed fifth in 13:04.39.  In the 100-meter hurdles, Blong placed fourth in 17.29 and Schaeffer placed sixth in 17.51.

  In the 4 x 200 relay the team of Wiederholt (29.42), Laurin Zern (31.7), Terrell (30.73) and Sophia DeMaria (29.4) placed fourth in 2:01.48.  in the sprint medley relay, the team of Wiederhot (14.03), Terrell (14.12), DeMaria (30.98) and Heffron (1:12.5) placed fifth in 2:11.65.  In the 4 x 100 relay, the team of Wiederholt (14.42), Zern (14.3), Katelyn Thorne (16.24) and Blong (13.84) placed sixth in 58.9.

  In the 4 x 400 relay, the team of Seuferer (1:12.6), DeMaria (1:15.7), Folkerts (1:25.5) and Heffron (1:18.35) placed sixth in 5:11.6.  In the distance medley relay, the team of  Zern (31.85), Sarah Fuhs (33.9), Heffron (1:17.85) and Mackenzie Curran (3:03.02) placed sixth in 5:26.7.

  In the 1,500-meter run Summerfield placed fifth in 6:12.81.  In the 800, Rich didn't place in 3:10.56.  In the 200-meter dash, Thomas-Clark didn't place in 32.21.

  Davis County won the girls SCC team standings with 171 points.  Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont was second with 144.  Albia was third with 71 and Clarke was fourth with 69.  Centerville was sixth with 59.
