I-35 Tourney JV and 9th Boys

JV Boys Win Two at Tourney

The Chariton JV Boys Basketball team picked up two wins at the Interstate 35 JV Tourney on February 2nd.  They won the first game against Van Meter,  53-41 and the beat I-35 48-37 in the second game.  With the wins, Chariton improved to 9-8 overall.

Chariton-Van Meter Win 53-41

In the first game against Van Meter, Chariton jumped out to a big early lead and led by 17 at halftime.  Conner Altenhofen had a team-high 21 points along with nine rebounds, one assist and one steal.  Ben Morrett had 10 points, one rebound, two steals and one assist.  Sawyer Dow had nine points, five rebounds and two assists.
Chariton stormed out to  a 17-2 lead after one period and extended their lead to 34-17 at halftime.  The Chargers outscored Van Meter 17-12 in the third to lead  51-29 heading into the final period.  Van Meter outscored them 12-2 in the fourth, but it was too little, too late. 
Brett Braida had five points, three rebounds, one block, one steal and six assists.  Joey Krutsinger had two points, seven rebounds and one assist.  Sean Sullenger had two points and three rebounds.  Quinn Storm had two points, seven rebounds and one assist.  Eduard Rodygin had two points, five rebounds and one steal.  Paul Long had one rebound.

Chariton-I35 Win 48-37

In the second game, Chariton jumped out to a big early lead as well en route to the win.  Brett Braida led Chariton in scoring with 16 points to go along with three rebounds, five assists and one steal.  Conner Altenhofen had 12 points, four rebounds, two blocks and one steal.  Ben Morrett had eight points, three rebounds, one steal and two assists.  Quinn Storm had four points, five rebounds, two blocks, two steals and one assist.  Alec Reynolds had two points, two rebounds and two assists.  Sean Sullenger had two points and one rebound.  Sawyer Dow had two points, two blocks and one steal.  Eduard Rodygin had two points, one rebound and one assist.  Joey Krutsinger had one block, one steal and one assist.  Paul Long had one assist.

9th Boys Lose Both games at Tournament

The Chariton Freshmen boys lost a couplte of games at the Interstate 35 game Tournament February 2.  The freshmen Chargers lost to Van Meter,  52-34 and they lost a close game to I-35, 31-28.

Van Meter Wins 52-34

Against Van Meter, Aaron Cain led the Chargers in scoring with 10 points to go along with three rebounds, two assists and one steal.  Brad Krutsinger had eight points, eight rebounds, one block, two steals and four assists.  Chariton struggled from the field in this game.  Carter Riechmann had four points and two rebounds.  Cody Evans had four points.  Chase Altenhofen had two points and a team-high nine rebounds.  Spencer Sherrick had two points, one rebound and one assist.  Grant Shriver had two points.  Sam Lerner had two points.  Adam Kaska had one rebound and one assist.  Ethan Curnutte had one rebound and one assist.  Max Covington also played.

Interstate 35 Beats Chariton  - 31-28

In the game against I-35, Aaron Cain led the Chargers in scoring with 12 points along with two rebounds and six steals.  Brad Krutsinger had eight points, four rebounds, two steals and one assist.  Chase Altenhofen had five points, five rebounds and two steals.  Adam Kaska had two points and two rebounds  Spencer Sherrick had one rebound and five steals.  Carter Riechmann had three rebounds.  Cody Evans had two rebounds, four steals and one assist.  Grant Shriver also played.
In this game, Chariton shot 8-31, 26 percent from inside the arc and 2-10, 20 percent, from three-point range.  The Chargers shot 5-8, 63 percent from the line.  Chariton pulled down 19 rebounds.  The Chargers committed seven turnovers and seven fouls.  Chariton had two assists and 19 steals and no blocks.
