Winning Games Against Oskaloosa - Feb 12

Varsity Chargers edge Oskaloosa 47-46






The Chariton varsity Boys closed out the regular season in thrilling fashion with a 47-46 win over Oskaloosa.  The regular varsity boys basketball season ended with a thrilling   win, 47-46, against Oskaloosa on February 12th at home.  Chariton was behind almost the whole game, but outscored the Indians, 9-3 in the fourth to get the win.  With the win Chariton moved to 15-6 overall heading into tournament play February 18th.  Daric Laing led the Chargers with 13 points, four rebounds, one steal and four assists.  T.J. Hockenson had nine points, nine rebounds, two blocks, two steals and two assists.  Alex Wright had seven points, six rebounds, one steal and one assist.  Willie Felderman had six points, three rebounds and two assists.  Bryce Cunningham had six points, five rebounds and four assists.  Carl Williams had four points.  Christian Bengtson had two points, one rebound, one steal and one assist.  The Chargers will again host Oskaloosa in the first round of Districts next Monday night, February 18th at Chariton at 7 p.m.  Three Seniors, Bryce Cunningham, Alex Wright and Carl Williams were honored with their parents before the game, on Senior Night.  Senior cheerleaders including Tori Greubel, Mallory Gwinn, Cierra Covington and Serina Hinman were honored with their parents as well.

JV Boys Beat Oskaloosa

The Chariton JV boys closed out their season with a 47-36 win over Oskaloosa at Chariton February 12th.  The win avenged a 23-point loss to the Indians in the first game of the season.  It also gave the JV boys a final winning record of 10-9. Chariton trailed 11-8 after the first period.  The JV Chargers were behind 14-8 with six minutes left in the first half when they went on a 20-0 run.  The scoreless run lasted for almost 10 minutes and Chariton led 23-14 at halftime.  Chariton continued their strong defensive effort in the third period.  They were about to open up a 17-point lead, but gave up six consecutive points to make it an 11-point game heading into the final period.  Conner Altnehofen had a double-double with a team-high 16 points along with 13 rebounds and one block.  Brett Braida had 15 points, five rebounds, one steal and three assists.  Alec Reynolds had six points, five rebounds and two assists.  Joey Krutsinger had four points, one rebound and one assist.  Quinn Storm had two points, seven rebounds, three steals and four assists.  Hunter Storm had two points and one assist.  Eduard Rodygin had two points and one rebound.  Ben Morrett had eight rebounds, two steals and two assists.
