Craig Spiker Named Assistant Coach of the Year for Southeast District

The Iowa High School Baseball Coaches Association held its 46th annual Awards Banquet at the Marriott Hotel Banquet room in Cedar Rapids January 18th.  Chariton High School Assistant Baseball Coach, Craig Spiker, was named the Assistant Coach of the Year for the Southeast District.  Coach Spiker has been an assistant to Head Coach Jake Schroeder for three years out of his career
as an assistant coach.  Coach Schroeder said that Spiker is an assistant coach first and foremost and he is also the hitting coach.
Last year the Chargers led Class 3A in hitting and Coach Spiker was a big reason for that.  He also helped guide the Chargers to a state tournament appearance, their first one since 2009.
Coach Spiker has been a member of the Iowa High School Baseball Coaches Association for three years.  He is also a member of the State Softball Hall of Fame.
