CHS Holds Newton to 23 Shots
The Chariton freshman girls basketball team got their first win of the year with a 22-20 win over Newton at Chariton on January 30th.  Kendall Hardie led the team with 11 points, five rebounds and two steals.
Chariton won despite shooting just 18 percent from the field and 30 percent from the line.  "We won because we played some of the best defense we've played all year.  Newton had good size in the post and had two or three good athletes on the perimeter," Chariton Head Coach Bill Brown said.
Chariton limited Newton to only 23 shots.  They out-rebounded the Cardinals, 21-15 and had 14 steals while Newton had five.
Saydee Terrell had seven points, five rebounds and four steals.  Tiffany Dale had three points, two rebounds and one steal.  Riley Rector had one point, four rebounds, two steals and one assist.  Mackenzie Curran had three rebounds, three steals and one assist.  Carlie Schaeffer had two steals.  Abby Storm and Sophia DeMaria each had a rebound.
