Slow Start Hurts JV Boys in Pleasantville

A slow start where they got into a hole was too much for the Chariton JV boys to overcome in a 40-38 loss at Pleasantville in their season opener on December 5th.  Quinn Storm led the Chargers with 14 points along with eight rebounds, two steals and one assist.
Pleasantville jumped out to an 8-2 lead after one period.  Chariton battled back to outscore the Trojans 12-10 in the second to cut the lead to 18-14 at halftime.  Chariton tied the game in the third period but wasn't quite able to take the lead.  The Chargers and Trojans each scored 13 in the third and Chariton outscored Pleasantville 11-9 in the fourth but it wasn't quite enough.
Bradley Krutsinger had seven points, two rebounds and one assist.  Aaron Cain had six points, three rebounds, five steals and two assists.  Spencer Sherrick had five points.  Eduard Rodygin had four points, three rebounds, two assists and two steals.  Chase Altenhofen had two points and two rebounds.  Sawyer Dow had one block and one assist.  Ethan Curnutte had three rebounds and Carter Riechmann had three rebounds.  Adam Kaska had one rebound.
For the game, Chariton shot 14-36, 39 percent, from inside the arc and 2-10, 20 percent, from three point range.  Chariton shot 4-8, 50 percent, from the line.  The Chargers pulled down 25 rebounds including 12 offensive boards.  Chariton committed 11 turnovers and 16 fouls.  The Chargers had seven assists, nine steals and one block.
