8th Red Girls Open Season with Win

8th Grade Red Team:
The Chariton eighth grade girls Red team began the season with a 28-20 win at Knoxville December 3.  Chariton led 14-7 at halftime and outscored the Panthers by one in the second half to get the win.  Aubrie Richards led Chariton in scoring with 10 points to go along with six rebounds, three steals and three blocks.
Luci Swarthout had six points, three rebounds and two steals.  Ivy Swarthout had six points, three rebounds and two steals.  Ivy Swarthout had six points, three steals and two assists.  Abbie Peterson had four points and two rebounds.  Autumn Gwinn had two points and three rebounds.  Megan Schultz had one rebound, one steal and one assist.  Tressa Shore had one rebound and Taytum Bacus had one assist.
White Team:
The Chariton white  team lost, 10-9.  Ashley Pfrimmer led the team in scoring with three points to go along with one steal and one assist.  Natalie Baird had two points and one rebound.  Shelby Jensen had two points and one rebound.  Jacklynn Johnson had two points and one steal.  Kelsie Chester, Trinity Kemper and Bacus each had one rebound.  Schultz and Taylor Ingram each had a steal.

The Chariton seventh grade girls Red and White teams began their season at Knoxville on December 3. Red Team
The Red team used a strong second half to beat Knoxville by a 36-11 score.  Grace Bengtson had a double-double with 12 points and a team-high 11 steals. Alysha Shutt had 12 points and Shayla Holohan had six points and a team-high three rebounds.  Paige Burgett had four points and Erin Payton had two.  Shelby Dobbertheim had one block.
It was Knoxville's third game and only  the first for Chariton.  The Red team also lost a starter to injury before they made the trip to Knoxville.  Chariton built up a 12-6 halftime lead behind six points from Bengtson and Shutt scoring six off the bench.
Chariton's pressure got them running in thte second half and up the game.  Chariton outscored Knoxville, 24-5, in the second half to win going away.
Chariton had 11 rebounds and pressured the ball well with 24 steals.  Chariton took good care of the ball with only eight turnovers.  Chariton shot 18-52, 35 percent, from the field and 0-3 from the line.
White team shuts out Knoxville
Chariton's White team earned a shut out as they beat Knoxville 24-0.  Macy Johnston led the White team with 12 points, eight rebounds and one steal.
The White team led 8-0 at halftime.  Knoxville had 13 players that were new players, which was double Chariton's players that hadn't played in the first game.  The White team shot 12-36, 33 percent, from the field.
Mikenzy Beatty ran the offense well having only two turnovers and scoring four points and making one steal.  Natalie Ilyenko had four points, two rebounds, three steals and one assist.  Alysha Shutt had four points and four steals.  Macey Beatty had three steals.  Crystal Milan had one rebound.  Leilani Plank had one rebound, one assist and three steals.
