Varsity and JV Girls Fall to Eddyville at Home

Varsity Girls
After a good first quarter, the Chariton varsity girls struggled in a 55-29 loss to conference champion Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont at Chariton February 8th.  Chariton trailed 9-6 after one period but was outscored 46-23 the rest of the way.  Allyson Showers had a good game with 12 points, nine rebounds and three steals.  Emily Seuferer played well off the bench with eight points and five rebounds along with three steals.
With the loss, Chariton moved to 6-13 overall and 3-6 in the conference with two regular season games remaining.  Chariton plays their first round District game against Interstate 35 at I-35 on February 15th.  Eddyville moved to 15-5 overall and finished at 9-1 in the conference.
Alexis Curran had four points and three steals.  Emily Grismore had three points and one assist.  Carley Arnold had two points.  Emma Fuhs had one assist.
One key in the game for Chariton was not being able to control Tasha Alexander, who had 27 points.  "She's the best player in the conference and she destroyed us all night.  We got beat on the glass pretty good and we turned the ball over way too much.  Besides the first quarter we didn't play very well at all," Chariton Head Coach Lee Sandy said.
Chariton trailed 9-6 after one period.  Eddyville outscored the Lady Chargers 16-4 in the second to take a 25-10 lead into halftime.  Chariton couldn't quite get it going in the third as they were outscored 16-9 and trailed 41-19 in the final period.  The Rockets outscored the Lady Chargers 14-10 in the fourth.
For the game, Chariton shot 8-35 from the field and 13-21 from the line.  Eddyville shot 20-50 from the field and 14-27 from the line.  Eddyville out-rebounded Chariton 35-27.  Chariton had 27 turnovers and the Rockets had 17.  Chariton committed 21 fouls and Eddyville had 20.  Chariton had two assists, 12 steals and five blocks.  Eddyville had three assists, 17 steals and seven blocks.

JV Girls Fall To EBF
The Chariton JV girls lost to Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont, 41-35, in a conference game at Chariton February 8th.  Chariton led 19-15 at halftime but the Rockets outscored them 26-16 in the second half to get the win.  With the loss Chariton moved to 6-2 in conference play and 9-5 overall.
Sarah Fuhs had 10 points, one rebound and three steals.  Saydee Terrell had 10 points, one rebound, two steals and two assists.  Maria Blong  had nine points, three steals and one assist.  Mackenzie Curran had two points, three rebounds and two assists.  Carlie Schaeffer had two points, three rebounds and one steal.  Kendall Hardie had one point and six rebounds.  Emily Seuferer had one point, three rebounds and one steal.  Riley Rector had five rebounds, two steals and one block.  Abby Storm had two rebounds.
