7th and 8th Grade Girls Beat Pleasantville in Finale

8th Red Girls Beat Pleasantville in Finale
The Chariton eighth grade girls Red team closed out their season with a 40-28 win at Pleasantville February 3rd.  Ivy Swarthout had 12 points, two rebounds and two steals.  The win gave the Red team a final record of 11-1.
Chariton led at halftime 14-7.  They outscored the Trojans 26-21 in the second half.  
"This was a hard, physical game.  We had some great rebounding, but not great shooting.  It was the final chapter to a great season.  I'm very proud of these girls and will miss them greatly," Chariton Head Coach Jeanna Snook said.
Aubrie Richards had a team-high 12 rebounds along with eight points, one steal and one block.  Luci Swarthout had eight points, two rebounds and three steals.  Abbie Peterson had six points, two rebounds, two steals and four assists.  Megan Schultz had two points and two rebounds.  Tressa Shore had two points and one rebound.  Ashley Pfrimmer had two points and one rebound  Autumn Gwinn and Jacklynn Johnson each had a rebound.  Taytum Bacus had a steal and an assist.
There was no White game against Pleasantville.

7th Red Girls BB Team Closes Season with Win Over Pleasantville
Red Team Ends Season with a 7-4-1 record
The Chariton seventh grade girls Red team closed their season in successful fashion with a 36-18 win at Pleasantville February 3rd.  The win gave the Red team a final record of 7-4-1.  There was no White team game played because of the number of players Pleasantville had.
Chariotn played 14 girls with the exception of Paige Burgett, who was ill.  The Red team jumped out to a 20-6 halftime lead and outscored the Trojans 16-12 in the second half to win going away.  Chariton had another good night shooting going 18-58, 31 percent from the field.
"We played a second half with a lot of girls seeing playing time and we held our own," Chariton Head Coach Bruce Taylor said.
Grace Bengtson had her best scoring night of the season, leading Chariton with 10 points along with three rebounds and five steals.  Natalie Ilyenko was steady again with 10 points and eight rebounds.  Shayla Holohan had four points, eight rebounds and one steal.
Breanna Ellis had two points, one rebound and three steals.  Erin Payton had two points, one rebound and four steals.  "We've seen much improvement from Erin on the defensive end," Coach Taylor said.  Alysha Shutt had two points and one rebound and one steal.  Macey Beaty had one rebound.  Macy Johnson and Crystal Milam each had one steal.
"This has been an enjoyable group to work with and watch improve over the 12-game season.  Individual improvement for those girls who choose to go out next November as eighth graders can only be obtained if they pick up a basketball between now and then.  This was an enjoyable season!" Coach Taylor said.
