Chargers Beat Oskaloosa to Advance to 3A District Final

The Chariton varsity boys won their 3A District 13 semifinal game against Oskaloosa,  77-59, before a packed house at the Charger Dome on February 24th.  The Chargers built a 20 point halftime lead and led by as many as 28 in the second half to advnce.  It was the 16th straight win for the Chargers, who improved to 19-3 overall.
With the win, Chariton advanced to the District final against Knoxville at Albia on March 6th.  Knoxville won by beating Centerville in the opening game at the Charger Dome, 82-74.
Willie Felderman shot 60 percent from the field and had a game high 26 points.  He also had five rebounds, five assists, two blocks and one steal.  Daric Laing had 18 points, nine rebounds, five assists, two steals and two blocks.  TJ Hockenson had 14 points, seven rebounds, four assists, two blocks and one steal.  Christian Bengtson had a good game distributing the ball with a team high nine assists.  He also had 11 points, three rebounds, one steal and one block.
Ben Morrett had four points, three assists and two rebounds.  Alec Reynolds had two points.  Joey Krutsinger had four rebounds and one assist.  Sean Sullenger had one rebound.















For the game, Chariton shot 23-39, 59 percent from inside the arc and 4-9, 44 percent from three-point range.

The Chargers shot 19-32, 59 percent, from the line.  The Chargers had 31 rebounds including 25 defensive boards.  Chariton had a 3-1 assist to turnover ratio with 27 assists and nine turnovers.  The Chargers committed 13 fouls.  Chariton had six steals and seven blocks.
