The Chariton varsity baseball team picked up their second straight win with a 9-1 drubbing of Winterset at Chariton on May 22. Sophomore Charlie Palmer tossed a one-hitter in the win. The Chargers pounded out 11 hits and scored five runs in the first and four in the sixth to complete the rout.
In seven innings, Palmer gave up one unearned run on one hit while striking out 12 and walking three.
Lucas Heaverlo, Alex Wright, Brett Braida and Austin Ritenour each had two hit games for the chargers. Heaverlo went 2-3 with two singles, two runs scored, an RBI, a walk and a stolen base. Wright went 2-4 with a double, single, a run scored and two RBIs. Braida went 2-2 with two singles, a run scored, an RBI, a walk and a stolen base. Ritenour went 2-3 with two singles and an RBI. Token Hall went 1-3 with a double, two runs scored, a walk and a stolen base. Jordan Baughman went 1-1 with a single, a run scored, an RBI and a walk. TJ Hockenson went 1-3 with a single, a run scored and an RBI. Austin Peterson went 0-3 with a run scored and a walk.
