Schaeffer Wins 100-Meter Hurdles, Terrell Wins Shot Put at Pella Middle School Meet
On a cool night with some rain, the Chariton eighth grade girls posted some high finishes at the Pella Middle School Invitational at Pella April 22. The Chariton girls finished fifth overall out of eight teams in a tough field with 44 points. Carlie Schaeffer placed first overall in the 100-meter hurdles in 17.91. Saydee Terrell won the shot put with a throw of 28' 7". Terrell also placed fifth overall in the 100-meter hurdles in 18.76.
In the 1,500-meter run, Mackenzie Curran placed fifth overall in 6:05.03. In the 800-meter run, Summerfield placed sixth overall in 2:55.52. In the 400-meter dash, Roni Zimmerman placed sixth in 1:12.69. In the 200-meter dash, Katelyn Thorne placed 14th in 35:45. In the 200-meter hurdles, DeMaria placed fifth overall in 34.85.
In the high jump, DeMaria tied for eighth with a jump of 4' even. Schaeffer tied for 12th with a jump of 3'10". In the long jump, Dooley placed ninth with a jump of 12' 6½". Summerfield finished 16th with a jump of 11' 8½".
In the shot put, Wiederholt placed 14th with a throw of 20' 3½". Erika Alexander placed 16th with a throw of 17' 3". In the discuss, Alyssa Herndon placed seventh with a throw of 62' 3". Wiederholt was 16th with a throw of 48' 6". Alexander was 18th with a throw of 40' 9".
In the 100-meter dash, Cook finished 34th in 17.42. Ilyenko tied for 40th in 18.09. Herndon finished 51st in 19.47. Alexander was 53rd in 19.55 and Abby Demichelis was 56th in 20.10.
