Luci Swarthout sets new conference record in 200-meter hurdles at 7th and 8th SCC Meet
The seventh grade girls set records at the South Central Conference middle school meet at Centerville May 7. Luci Swarthout set a new conference record in the 200-meter hurdles, winning the event with a time of 32.7. Chariton won six events at the meet including the 200-meter hurdles, long jump, distance medley relay, 1,500-meters, 200-meter dash and the 4 x 800 relay.
As a team, Chariton placed third overall at the meet with 150 points. Davis County won the meet with 170 points and Centerville was second with 152.
Swarthout also won the 200-meter dash in a time of 29.97. Shirley Reginald placed third in the 200 in 30.85. Reginald won the long jump with a jump of 13' ¾". The Chariton 4 x 800 team of Trinity Kemper, Ivy Swarthout, Taheton Decker and Jacklynn Johnson placed rist in 12:25:3.
In the 100-meter dash, Hannah Isley placed second in 14:39. She also placed second in the 800 meters in 2:49.6.
In the 10-flight hurdles, Isley placed third in 18.53. In the sprint medley A relay, the team of Gaird, Peterson, Richards and Schultz finished third in 2:20. In the 400-meter dash, Swarthout finished fourth in 1:11. Gwinn finished in 1:21. In the discus, Reus didn't place with a throw of 52'. Gwinn had a throw of 50'7'. Isley placed fifth in the high jump with a jump of 4'. Lucy Swarthout didn't place with a jump of 4'2".
