Emily McRoberts had an outstanding day at the South Central Conference Tournament in Knoxville on Monday the 6th. She was the highlight of the Chariton girl's tennis team by placing second at the tournament. An unseeded player at the start of the tournament, McRoberts made it all the way to the singles final before losing. She finished second overall in singles play and earned first team all-conference honors.
On her way to the title match, McRoberts beat the #1 seeded player, Janel Fenton, of Davis County and the #5 seeded player , Macey Snell of Clarke.
Fenton received a first round bye while McRoberts faced Sidney Ocker of Centerville. McRoberts beat Ocker, 10-5, to set up a match with Fenton. This was a tight match but McRoberts wound up pulling it out in the end, 10-8. McRobers then faced Snell and routed her 10-2 to advance to the championship match. McRoberts started very well and built up a 5-2 lead but couldn't quite hold on and lost, 10-7, to finish second.
