Koehn Places Fifth, Savage Sixth at Knoxville Invitational Tennis Tourney
The Chariton girls tennis team had a couple of place winners at the Knoxville Invitational on April 26. In singles play, Aspen Koehn place fifth overall, and Sheena Savage placed sixth.
In the singles play, third-seeded Koehn began with a 8-6 win over Bayle Walker of Davis County. She lost to top-seeded and eventual Champion Libby Bemis of Clarke, 8-2. Koehn faced Walker in a rematch and beat her again. It was an all Chsriton match in the fifth place match as Koehn beat Savage, 8-5.
Savage began by beating Clarke's Macy Snell, 8-2. She then lost to #2 seed and eventual runner-up Jordyn Thompson of Davis County, 8-1,. Savage faced Snell in a rematch and beat her, 9-7. She then fell to Koehn in the fifth place match 8-5 to finish sixth.
In doubles action, the team of Justine Hamilton/Alexis mullins lost to the team of Madison Chrisman/Shelby VanSteenwyk of Konxville, 8-2. Hamilton/Mullins lost to the team of Sydney Donner/Alex Kelly of Centerville, 8-5.
The team of Goril Michaelsen/Courtney Shounkwiler lost to the team of Amory Glosser/Elizabeth Hargrave of Centerville by a score of 8-5. Michaelsen/Shounkwiler lost to the team of Sydnee Redman/Rachel Simpson of Clark,8-4.
