"I was really proud of the way the guys fought in this game. We showed a lot of fatigue in this game from playing the night before, but the guys just gave everything they had and were able to pull it out. We didn't play our best defensive game. We gave them way too many open looks but we just kept battling and that was the key," Chariton head Coach Ben Schooley said.
The bench was also a factor in winning the game. "We got key contributions from our bench and some guys knocked down some key shots for us when we needed them. Knoxville is a much improved team and took us down to the very end. I thought the guys did a nice job of playing as a team and getting the ball to the open guy on offense. We also did a nice job of crashing the offensive glass and that gave us a bunch of second chance points," Coac Schooley said.
Chariton made nine three pointers on the night and went 9-21, 43 percent, from beyond the arc. The Chargers shot 14-34, 41 percent from inside the arc. Chariton shot 18-24, 75 percent from the charity stripe.
