The sixth ranked Chariton softball team took care of business at the North Polke Comet Invitational Saturday, June 4th, shutting out OA-BCIG 8-0, crushing perennial state tournament power Clear Creek-Amana 10-4 and beating Sergeant Bluff-Luton 5-2.
In the first game against OA-BCIG, Chariton scored in the first on a lead-off by Tanna Seuferer and an RBI single by Layne Grurich. Abbee Curran hit an RBI single and then scored on a single by Kylie Bengston. Presley Swan and Abbee Curran, had two hits.
In the second game against Clear Creek, the Chargers jumped to a 4-0 first inning lead, pounding unbeaten (9-0) Clear Creek's pitching. Presley Swan hit a RBI single, Curran had RBI single and Miller scored on an error. Swan led off with a single. Swan with two outs and Davis singled to score Kourtney Nichols (running for Fuhs). Swan doubled to score Seuferer, Curran singled to score Grgurich, Swan scored on a stolen base and Curran came home on a Fuhs single. Swan was 2-3 with two RBI and Curran was 1-2 with two RBI.
In the third game against Bluff-Luton Chariton held a 3-0 through three innings with a three-run first. Swan singled to load the bases. The 14th ranked Sergeant Bluff team came back with a run in the fourth, but Chariton added two in the sixth on a two -run single by Miller. Swan and Fuhs all had hits and Fuhs had two RBI.
