Chariton Varsity Boys
A strong scoring effort and prowess on the board lifted the Chariton varsity boys to an 83-69 win at Clarke December 9th. Center, T.J. Hockenson had a 20-20 game with 29 points, 21 rebounds including six offensive boards and one assist. Daric Laing went 13-14 from the line and finished with a team high 31 points, 10 assists, seven rebounds, three steals and two blocks. With the win, Chariton improved to 2-1 overall and 1-0 in the conference.

For the game, Chariton pulled down a whopping 49 rebounds including 15 offensive boards. Chariton shot 25-48, 52 percent from inside the arc, and 3-14, 21 percent from three-point range. Chariton shot 24-33, 73 percent, from the line. Chariton had 12 turnovers and 10 fouls. The Chargers dished out 21 assists and had six steals and five blocks.
The game was nip and tuck early as Chariton led 19-18 after one period. The Chargers outscored the Indians 21-10 in the second to take a 40-28 lead into halftime. The Indians outscored the Chargers 22-16 in the third to cut the lead to six heading into the final period. However the Chargers scored their most points in the fourth with 27 and held off the Indians to get the win.
Willie Felderman had a double-double with 12 points, 14 rebounds and two blocks. Christian Bengtson had 11 points, two rebounds, three assists and three steals. Ben Morrett had two rebounds and four assists. Brett Braida had two rebounds and two assists. Alex Reynolds had one rebound, one block and one assist.
Chariton JV Boys
A sterling defensive effort in the second and third periods lifted the Chariton JV boys to a 51-38 win at Clarke on December 9th. The Chargers turned up the defensive intensity and held the Indians to just nine points in those two periods. Quinn Storm again led the team in scoring with 19 points to go along with 12 rebounds, two assists, one steal and two blocks. With the win, Chariton improved to 1-1 overall.
Chariotn started out strong and led 18-13 after one period. The Indians outscored the Chargers 6-5 in the second but Chariton still led 23-19 at halftime. Chariton played tenacious defense again in the third outscoring the Inidans 13-3 to take a 36-22 lead into the final period. Clarke outscored Chariton 16-15 in the fourth but the Chargers maintained their double-digit lead and came out with the win.
Eleven players scored for Chariton. Aaron Cain went 2-4 from trifecta land and finished with nine points, two rebounds, three steals and one assist. Eduard Rodygin had five points, two rebounds, two steals and three assists. Chase Altenhofen had four points, five rebounds and two steals. Spencer Sherrick had four points, one rebound and one steal.
Bradley Krutsinger had two points, four rebounds, six steals, two assists and one block. Sawyer Dow had two points, two rebounds and three assists. Ethan Curnutte had two points, one rebound and one steal. Grant Shriver had two points and one rebound. Adam Kaska had one point and two rebounds. Ben Sullenger had one point, one rebound and one block. Carter Riechmann had five rebounds, one block, one steal and one assist.
