Fuhs and Showers have double doubles in win over Pleasantville
Stellar games by Emma Fuhs and Allyson Showers and a dynamite defensive effort lifted the Chariton varsity girls to a 55-36 win at Pleasantville on December 5th. Fuhs and Showers both recorded double doubles for Chariton as Fuhs had a team-high 21 points and 15 rebounds while Showers had 19 points, 14 rebounds, five steals and two blocks. With the win the Lady Chargers improved to 1-1 overall.
Chariton held an 11-10 lead after one period. Then the Lady Chargers totally shut down the Trojans, outscoring them 20-0 in the second period to extend their lead to 31-10 at halftime. Chariton outscored the Trojans 11-8 in the third to lead 42-18 after three periods. Pleasantville outscored the Lady Chargers 18-13 in the fourth but it was far too little, too late.
For the game, Chariton shot 25-65 from the field and 5-12 from the line. Pleasantville shot 11-44 from the field and 11-18 from the line. Chariton out rebounded the Trojans, 46-28, and Chariton had 17 turnovers. Chariton had 13 assists, 12 steals and two blocks and Pleasantville had five assists, nine steals and two blocks. Grismore had seven points, Curan and Maria Blong had four apiece.
