First round Regional Loss to Clarke ends Girls Varsity season.
The first round of 3A Region 7 play on February 9th ended with a loss for the Lady Chargers with a score of 62-34. The game was close early on until late in the second quarter when Clarke pushed the lead to 10 points. The Lady Indians went on a 7-0 run to start the second half and Chariton couldn't recover. This was the second straight game where Chariton didn't shoot very well going 13-54 from the field. They were also out-rebounded for the second straight game and just the third time all year, 32-24. The game was tight early as Chariton trailed just 15-11 after one period. Chariton trailed by just five or six with about three minutes left in the first half. But Clarke put some daylight between them and extended their lead to 27-17 at halftime. The Lady Indians opened the third quarter with seven straight points and it was over at that point according to Coach Sandy.
With the loss, Chariton ended the season at 9-12 overall. Emma Fuhs had her best game of the year with 10 points, six rebounds and two blocks. Senior Miranda Davis also had 10 points. Alexis Curran and Emily Grismore had four points apiece. Senior Chelsea McGee had two points, and three steals. Senior Kylie Bengtson had one point and three assists. Allyson Showers had one point and five rebounds.
