After Good Start Varsity Boys Lose to Fairfield
At Chariton, Friday night February 5, the Chargers boys lost to Fairfield, 60-44. Despite an early lead, they fell behind and trailed 25-19 at halftime. Fairfield outscored the Chargers, 16-1, in the third to take a 41-30 lead. The team started out well and led 15-10 after one period, however Chariton scored only four points in the second period. T.J. Hockenson had a team high 19 points, along with six rebounds and two blocks. Daric Laing had 13 points, four rebounds, three steals and four assists. With the loss, the Chargers are now 14-6 for the season. Alex Wright had 5 points, two rebounds, and four assists. Bryce Cunningham had five points, one steal and two assists. Willie Felderman had 2 points, seven rebounds and four assists. Christian Bengtson had two rebounds.Varsity Girls'Six Game Winning Streak Ends with Loss to Fairfield
After a loss to Fairfield, the girls' six game winning streak comes to an end. The Lady Chargers shot just 9-40, 22.5 percent, from the field in this game. This game was the final regular season game of the year for Chariton and moved them to 9-11 overall.Miranda Davis, Allyson Showers and Chelsea McGee each had solid games in defeat. Davis had a team-high 16 points. Showers had a team-high 10 rebounds and four points. McGee had nine points and five rebounds. Alexis Curran had three points, two assists and four steals. Emma Fuhs has two blocks.
Fairfield led early, 11-6 at the end of the first half, and Chariton only trailed by just three with two minutes left. But the Trojans hit two three-pointers to extend their lead to 26-17 heading into halftime. After that Chariton really struggled offensively scoring just two points.
