Varsity Girls Win Their Fifth Straight Game
A 42-37 win at SCC leader Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont knocked E-B into a first place tie with Clarke in the final SCC standings. With the win Chariton moved to 8-10 overall. Miranda Davis had a team-high 15 points. Allyson Showers had 10 points, eight rebounds and one block.
Chariton started the game down 8-2 but three steals by Alexis Curran helped get them going and propel them to a 16-15 lead after one period. Chariton held a 2-4 point lead for most of the game but E-B pulled ahead by one, 37-36 with four minutes left. However, Chariton went on a 6-0 run in the final two and a half minutes to get the win.
Alexis Curran had six points and five steals. Chelsea McGee had six points, nine rebounds and one block. Emily Grismore had four points. Emma Fuhs had one point and one block. Bengtson had five assists and one block.
