Big plays dominate the defensive line and lift Creston over the Chargers in season opener. Three big pass plays for scores along with a strong defense and the inexperience of the Chargers gave Creston the win. 30-7.
Ronny Christensen, who was making his first varsity start at linebacker, played real well at defensive end for a sophomore.
Christensen finished with two solo tackles, 10 assists, one sack and one tackle for the loss.
Alex Wright, set up a third and seven at the 26 yard line.
Blake Paige knocked Juwan Parris out of bounds. Brendan Laing had a four yard gain. Bengtson completed a 12 yard pass to
Paige to the 22 yard line with 1:35 left. Laing had gains of five and two yards to set up a third and three at the 15.
Chasen Blue's extra point was good to make the score, 30-7, with 19 seconds left.
Paige had two solos, two assists.
Cody Carroll had 1 solo, 2 assists, 1 pressure and 1 tackle for the loss.
Wright had 1 solo, and 4 assists.
